Suva, Friday 15th April, 2022 – With regret and sadness, we announce the resignation of Ms. Ilisapeci Rokotunidau from her role as the Director General of Fiji Red Cross Society, with immediate effect.
Ms Rokotunidau has been unwell for the past few months and has decided to step back and focus on her health and full recovery.
Ms Rokotunidau joined as Director General in November 2019. She led the Society in unprecedented times of tropical cyclones, epidemics and a global pandemic, in over two years.
Fiji Red Cross Society National President, Sala Toganivalu Lesuma shared:
“Under Ms Rokotunidau’s leadership, the Fiji Red Cross was able to demonstrate the value of the Society’s humanitarian role, beyond cyclone response and relief work, to encompassing support of the Ministry of Health during COVID-19, reaffirming our auxiliary support role to Government. The mobilization plans for COVID-19 and the critical role that Red Cross staff and volunteers played in the vaccination of Fiji citizens, will be her legacy and for that, we are truly grateful”
She leaves an exceptionally talented team in place and the organisation is in an excellent position for its continued growth.
We wish Ms Rokotunidau all the very best.
