FIJI RED CROSS ANNOUNCES NEW MEMBERS TO GOVERNANCE BODY
Suva, Tuesday 4th January, 2021 – Fiji Red Cross Society is pleased to announce new members of the Fiji Red Cross Governing Board. Coming from the Private sector with combined experience in financial, regulatory compliance, business and operational management, the new members bring years of experience and leadership to the governance of the Society
While officially welcoming the new members, FRCS President, Ms. Sala Toganivalu-Lesuma shared the new challenges the Society faces, as Fiji’s largest humanitarian network, with sixteen branches and volunteers spread out across the country. With COVID, a myriad of other health issues, natural disasters and growing socio-economic challenges, the Fiji Red Cross, through its volunteer and community based network, is poised to deliver humanitarian assistance as auxiliary to public authorities.
“With our Strategic plan 2022/2026 being launched in a few weeks, we look forward to the contribution that our new members will bring to innovatively and effectively steer the National Society.
Appointments to the Board include, Mr. Digby Bossley who has been confirmed as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance, Audit and Risk Commission. Mr. Bossley serves as Director of a number of Boards, locally and regionally and brings over thirty years private sector management experience. Mr. Eldon Eastgate is currently General Manager Pacific Islands of Essity Australia (Fiji) formerly Asaleo Care and amongst other industry leadership positions, is a Board member of the Fiji Commerce Employers Federation (FCEF). Ms. Finau Soqo joins the Finance Audit and Risk Commission and has held senior roles in financial institutions, across Asia Pacific of which eleven years was with ANZ Bank.
“With a breadth of regional and local expertise as well as relationships from the different sectors, our new Governance members bring with them high level capability and subject matter expertise. They will provide invaluable oversight in all areas of the Society’s operations, particularly as we prepare the Fiji Red Cross for the next strategic direction; these are exciting times” said Sala Toganivalu-Lesuma – FRCS President.
