MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING SIGNED BETWEEN FIJI RED CROSS SOCIETY AND THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH & MEDICAL SERVICES TO PROMOTE BLOOD DONATION
The Fiji Red Cross Society and the Ministry of Health and Medical Services are delighted to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering a stronger collaboration to promote and recruit voluntary blood donors across the nation.
The MoU signing ceremony took place on Saturday, 17th June 2023 at the Labasa Civic Center, bringing together representatives from both organizations, including Dr James Fong, the Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services, Mr Vamarasi Fasala, the Manager of National Blood Services and the Fiji Red Cross Society Director General, Ragigia Dawai.
The event marked a significant milestone in the joint efforts to ensure an adequate and safe blood supply in Fiji, saving countless lives and supporting the healthcare system.
The MoU signifies the commitment of the Fiji Red Cross Society and the Ministry of Health and Medical Services to work closely together to raise awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation, increase the number of blood donors, and strengthen the overall blood transfusion services in Fiji.
This official agreement formalizes our collaborative efforts in supporting the Ministry of Health and Medical Services by recruiting voluntary, non-remunerated blood donors and advocating for blood donations.
Both the Fiji Red Cross Society and the Ministry of Health and Medical Services express their gratitude to the generous blood donors who have contributed to saving lives in the past and extend an invitation to all individuals who can donate blood to come forward and join this lifesaving cause. Together, we can make a profound difference and ensure a reliable blood supply for those in need.
