FPTCL CEO Commends Fiji Red Cross Society for Exemplary Fund Utilization
The Fiji Public Trustee Corporation (FPTCL) CEO expressed gratitude to the Fiji Red Cross Society for their exemplary stewardship of funds during the handover of a $50,000 donation from the Joyce Heeraman Estate.
During the momentous occasion, Mr. Tevita Kurudua, CEO of FPTCL, praised the Fiji Red Cross Society’s accountability and dedication to fulfilling Mrs. Joyce Heeraman’s wishes and objectives.
“It’s good to see the level of accountability and detailed report that has been provided to the Fiji Public Trustee this morning, that gives us a lot of assurance and comfort that we have all been corroborating closely together to fulfill the wishes and objectives of Mrs. Joyce Heeraman. By looking at what we have seen this morning, I think if Ms. Joyce was still around, she would be the most happiest individual that has seen the great work that has emanated and also grown part of the funds that she has entrusted Fiji Public Trustee to look after,” said Tevita Kurudua, CEO of FPTCL.
Mr. Kurudua further emphasized, “we are very grateful that we have been associated with good charitable organisations like the Fiji Red Cross Society that have really put to good use some of this estate funds and I think it sends out a very strong message to the general public, to the communities and to the nation of Fiji, that we can all make a difference if we have a heart. Similar to what Mrs. Joyce had.”
In response, Ragigia Dawai, Director General of the Fiji Red Cross Society, expressed immense gratitude for the continued support from the Joyce Heeraman Estate. “This donation marks another significant milestone, bringing the total contributions from the estate to over $100,000 in unrestricted funding. Such generosity empowers us to further our mission of alleviating human suffering and building resilient communities across Fiji,” said Ragigia Dawai.
Joyce Heeraman, a retired lecturer at the University of the South Pacific and originally from Trinidad and Tobago, was renowned for her dedication to community service and humanitarian causes. Even after her passing, her legacy continues to positively impact lives.
Previous donations from the Joyce Heeraman Estate have significantly contributed to the Fiji Red Cross Society’s initiatives, including the renovation of our Lautoka Divisional office, which serves the greater Western Division, benefiting a population of 337,000 across three provinces and 62 districts.
