In handing over the donation, Credit Corporation (Fiji) Pte Limited Financial Controller, Mareta Salacakau said that instead of hosting an event for their 30th anniversary, they thought it better to donate to charitable organisations that were most deserving and had a very good reputation.

Fiji Red Cross Society is among 6 organisations that received the kind donation from Credit Corporation (Fiji) Pte Limited.

In accepting the donation on behalf of the FRCS Board and volunteers in 16 branches around the country, FRCS National President, Sala Toganivalu-Lesuma thanked Credit Corp, saying:

“Every cent counts and although we’re independently funded by donors, money that comes through like this enables us to do the other little things that we can’t always do. With our programs running Health, Disaster, Youth & Safety, which is our main source of revenue, the money that comes in, out of the goodness of the corporate person’s heart is always appreciated, as it goes into an un-restricted funding and allows us to do other important things, we can’t always do.”

Un-restricted funding is a pool of funds that supports the Society’s work in areas and activities that may not be donor-funded but are just as important.

Fiji Red Cross Society and Credit Corporation (Fiji) Ltd have had a long term relationship and continue to strengthen their relationship in the humanitarian and corporate space.
